It has been a while

Hi,

It has been quite a while since I last wrote to you.

Most of you originally found me through Transformative Journaling, while some of you came through one of my earlier AI or GPT projects. So if my name feels familiar but you cannot immediately place it, that is probably where we crossed paths.

A lot has changed since then, including the direction of my work, so I thought it made more sense to properly reintroduce myself and tell you what I am doing now.

I am Åsa, a social worker turned life coach and a wheelchair user since birth.

Over the years, I have worked with different parts of personal development, writing, health and everyday life. What I kept coming back to was that life rarely divides itself neatly into separate topics.

For wheelchair-using women especially, work, relationships, clothes, access, energy, money, travel, home, health, plans and identity often affect each other all at once.

That is why I have created Wheelchair Women’s Life.

It is a new platform for adult women who use wheelchairs, built around the idea that wheelchair life is whole life.

The first issue of Wheelchair Women’s Life magazine is now published. You can read it here:

https://wheelchairwomenslife.substack.com/p/wheelchair-womens-life-issue-01-autumn

I have also opened WWL Society, an online community for wheelchair-using women who want a place to talk about life as it actually is, share experiences, think about what they want next and connect with other women who understand some of the practical realities without everything having to revolve around disability.

You can have a look here:

If this is relevant to you, you are very welcome to come along.

And if it is no longer something you are interested in, that is completely fine. After such a long gap, I would much rather you stayed because you genuinely want to hear from me.

With kind regards,

Hello, There was a friend I used to call whenever life felt loud. We collected years of notes and late night messages, the kind you send when you are not sure who you are becoming. Lately, the calls got shorter. We were talking past each other. I would share a win and feel a pinch of guilt in the silence. She would share a crisis and I would feel a pinch of resentment at the weight. There was no fight. No dramatic ending. Just the slow, honest realization that we were not walking the same...

Hello, There are days when the fog in my head feels impossible to clear. No matter how much I think, the answer won’t come. That’s when I turn to one of my simplest, most reliable journaling practices. I set a timer for 5 minutes and write one phrase over and over: “What I really want is…” Each time I finish a line, I write it again. The first few answers are usually surface-level: sleep, less stress, a clean house. But somewhere around the tenth or twelfth line, something deeper begins to...

Hello, In my kitchen, there’s a cupboard I almost never touch. It’s wedged above the fridge, and inside are things I’ve been keeping for years: a chipped mug, a bowl I never liked, an old teapot with a handle that burned my hand once. None of them useful, none of them beautiful, and yet there they sit. I tell myself, “I might need them one day.” But the truth is, I won’t. They take up space. They gather dust. And still, I hold on. It made me think about the other “cupboards” I carry. The ones...
